Q: I think I smell gas
A: If you smell gas, immediately turn off your gas supply at the meter, open doors and windows to vent the space and contact Transco on 0800 111 999
Q: Why choose a service contract?
A: Service contracts provide you with a fixed cost annual servicing and reduced labour rates for general remedial works and repairs (reduction dependant on contract value). Pre-programmed annual, bi-annual servicing, certification and maintenance and priority response for re-active maintenance, repairs
Q: How do I pay for my contract?
A: Payment can be made in full on completion (as per agreed terms) or on a monthly, quarterly basis on a pre-agreed date. Payment terms can be discussed in full following your initial contact and submission of contract pricing
Q: Do I need my gas installation, appliances serviced every year?
A: Yes there is a legal requirement to have your installation, appliances serviced, maintained and certificated every year to verify they are working safely and this will be the responsibility of the employer or Landlord if the property is rented (please check your lease agreement for verification). Annual servicing is normally required to validate warranties on new, systems, and appliances. Annual servicing is recommended to make sure your system, appliances are operating correctly, efficiently and safely and to identify any small problems before they grow into large costly problems.
Q: Can I use any company, person to install, service, and repair my gas system and appliances?
A: A company or individual must be a member of the Gas Safe Register and suitably trained, qualified before he/she are legally allowed to work on a gas installation, appliance. All companies, engineers are issued with membership identification certificates, cards and you should confirm their membership, view their card before they carry out works.
Q: I have no water
A: If your water supply has been cut off externally, contact:
Scottish water Board or your independent water supplier.
Q: Can I use any company, person to install, repair my plumbing system?
A: There is currently no legal requirement to be a member of a plumbing organisation as membership is totally voluntary. We recommend that you employ the services of reputable company with skilled time served engineers, plumbers with membership of a plumbing body such as SNIPEF
Q: Do I need my plumbing & drainage serviced, checked every year?
A: Generally there is no requirement to have you’re plumbing or drainage system checked, serviced every year and good ‘housekeeping’ is all that required. There may be requirements placed on specific companies, working environments to have plumbing, drainage hot –cold water storage tanks etc checked, cleaned on a regular basis and these requirements should be brought to the attention of your service, maintenance company in order that they can provide you with the service you need at a competitive price.
Q: What do I do to keep my drains clear?
A: flushing unsuitable items down toilets and sinks, such as sanitary products, newspaper, vegetable peelings, cooking grease and paint residue, generally causes blocked drains. Bathroom, shower drains are regularly blocked by build-up of hair and soap, shampoo residue. These problems can easily be avoided by good ‘housekeeping’ and care and attention when disposing of the above items. Fitting a suitable drain, grating guard to collect hair in bath and showers is a good idea and purchasing a simple plunger for quick easy clearing of blocked traps will save you money, cost of engineers, plumbers visit.

We recommend that you employ the services of reputable company with skilled time served electricians with membership of an electrical body such as NIEEIC or SELECT.
Q: Do I need my electrical system serviced, checked every year?
A: Generally there is no requirement to have you’re plumbing or drainage system checked, serviced every year and good ‘housekeeping’ is all that required. There may be requirements placed on specific companies, working environments to have electrical wiring, systems, control panels tested, checked on a regular basis and these requirements should be brought to the attention of your service, maintenance company in order that they can provide you with the service you need at a competitive price.
Electrical periodic inspection is recommended and this is generally every 5 Years.
